چکیده

This paper investigates the problem of enhancing a single desired speech source from a mixture of signals in multispeaker environments. A beamformer structure is proposed which combines a fixed beamformer with postfiltering. In the first stage, the fixed multiobjective optimal beamformer is designed to spatially extract the desired source by suppressing all other undesired sources. In the second stage, a multichannel power spectral estimator is proposed and incorporated in the postfilter, thus enabling further suppression capability. The combined scheme exploits both spatial and spectral characteristics of the signals. Two new multichannel spectral estimation methods are proposed for the postfiltering using, respectively, inner product and joint diagonalization. Evaluations using recordings from a real-room environment show that the proposed beamformer offers a good interference suppression level whilst maintaining a low-distortion level of the desired source.

An Integrated Real-Time Beamforming and Postfiltering System for Nonstationary Noise Environments

In this paper, we present a novel approach for real-time multichannel speech enhancement in environments of non-stationary noise and time-varying acoustical transfer functions (ATFs). The proposed system integrates adaptive beamforming, ATF identification, soft signal detection, and multichannel postfiltering. The noise canceller branch of the beamformer and the ATF identification are adaptivel...

Partitioned residual echo power estimation for frequency-domain acoustic echo cancellation and postfiltering

Residual echo arises in hands–free telephony equipment due to insufficient echo canceler convergence, but can be suppressed using a postfilter. The residual echo power spectral density is the most crucial control parameter for both frequency–domain acoustic echo cancellation and combined residual echo and noise postfiltering. In this contribution we present and compare residual echo power spect...

Distributed multichannel speech enhancement with minimum mean-square error short-time spectral amplitude, log-spectral amplitude, and spectral phase estimation

In this paper, the authors present optimal multichannel frequency domain estimators for minimum mean-square error (MMSE) short-time spectral amplitude (STSA), log-spectral amplitude (LSA), and spectral phase estimation in a widely distributed microphone configuration. The estimators utilize Rayleigh and Gaussian statistical models for the speech prior and noise likelihood with a diffuse noise f...

Residual echo power estimation for speech reinforcement systems in vehicles

In acoustic echo cancelation systems, some residual echo exists after the acoustic echo canceler (AEC) due to the fact that the adaptive filter does not model exactly the impulse response of the Loudspeaker-Enclosure-Microphone (LEM) path. This is specially important in feedback acoustic environments like speech reinforcement systems for cars where this residual echo can make the system become u...

Multichannel Speech Enhancement Based on Generalized Gamma Prior Distribution with Its Online Adaptive Estimation

We present a multichannel speech enhancement method based on MAP speech spectral magnitude estimation using a generalized gamma model of speech prior distribution, where the model parameters are adapted from actual noisy speech in a frame-by-frame manner. The utilization of a more general prior distribution with its online adaptive estimation is shown to be effective for speech spectral estimat...
